The figure shows seven buttons with a selection of Miller indices of crystallographic planes capable of showing the respective stereographic projection by a mouse click.
The first 4 buttons, starting with (1 0 0) represent cube faces, oriented with two faces perpendicular to the North-South axe (NS) of the spherical projection preceding the stereographic, represented by (0 0 1) indices and by the next one.
The button (1 1 0) represents a dodecahedron face parallel to the axe NS mentioned and intercepts the other referential axes at the same distance in relation to the origin.
The button (1 1 1) represents a octahedron face, it intercepts the 3 referential axes at the same distance from origin. The following button, last of the sequence, represents another face of the octahedron, it intercepts also the 3 referential axes at the same distance from origin, but in the negative part of the third referential axe (coinciding with the NS) and in the positive part of the other two.
Suggested question
Among the seven faces of the figure represented by the Miller indices which ones are parallel and which ones are perpendicular?
